📍 Favourite place: Samsø

On our Denmark route we first visited the harbour of Ballen and later also anchored again at the northern tip of the island. Both were dreamily beautiful places.

⚓ Why we love this spot

The little village of Ballen was very lively at the end of June, but (not yet) overcrowded. You can get everything you need for everyday life there: an absolutely fabulous beach right next to the marina, nice restaurants, and a small supermarket. From Ballen you can also go on lovely walks across the island.

• More of a fair-weather spot
• Shelter only from SW wind
• Good holding ground
• Beach
• Good reception

Samsø Ballen (55° 48.964′ N / 10° 38.414′ E) 

• Clear approach
• For our 35 ft. we paid 35 €.
• Best not to pre-book, it comes with a hefty surcharge.
• Finger berths and alongside
• To the north of the harbour there’s also an anchoring bay.

🏝️What you can do on land

• Samsø Festival
• Hiking, e.g. to the small, pretty village of Besser
• Swimming right at Denmark’s most beautiful beach (at least, that’s my pick)

💡 Our extra tip

Lots of locals offer tasty things from their own gardens on their fences. Since you can only pay for these via MobilePay (only accessible for Danes) or in cash, make sure you hang on to some small change.
